Every student is a Very Important Person (VIP) and classroom VIP systems can be an awesome way of reminding students just how awesome they are! Sadly, most classrooms beyond grade 3 don't use VIP systems on a regular basis. Well, that all ends now! Ayesha (@CupOfTeaWithMsE) and I are convinced that VIPs can be cool in intermediate and middle school grades too. Together we created a Social Media VIP system that empowers intermediate age students to become powerful, digital leaders!
Here is a video giving a brief overview of the VIP system. Below you will also find a link to all of the resources needed to help you begin your very own Social Media VIP system.

**Keep in mind that although this is designed based on BC's Grade 5 curriculum, this idea could be easily adapted for grades 4-8!
We hope you enjoy this resource and have fun celebrating the awesome learners and learning in your classroom! If you try out our resource we would love to hear how it goes in the comment below.
Hi Sarah and Ayesha,
I love the idea of incorporating the VIP system into the intermediate grades! I have only had intermediate classrooms, but have taught primary during my TOC days. I always enjoyed these special routines for the young kids. The buy-in is always huge and makes for a memorable day for each student. Obviously, older kids won't want carpet time and singing songs, but this is a very clever way to add a familiar routine, but making it "cool" for older students!
My main question initially was going to be about adaptations, but as I went through the assignment, you had covered everything! Well done on thinking about students who don't have permission - there will definitely…
Sarah and Ayesha, what a great job you have both done. I love the idea of "tapping every student on the head with the job of class VIP some positive words. I think doing this will highlight what they've done to deserve the title of class VIP. You've done a great job of clearly laying out the steps we will need to follow in order to implement the VIP system into the classroom. The google slideshow you've created is very nicely laid out and I e joyed the overall theme and colour scheme you used. I particularly appreciated the slide where you co-created criteria for the role of the VIP as well as for the roles of the non-V…
Wow! What a great resource you two have developed. I think it is a fantastic idea to continuing having VIP students past the young ages as it can be such a special experience. You have included a great breakdown of what students need to do when they are the VIP and when they are not. This works as a great layout for students to follow.
I think it would be interesting if you could find a way to have students help with writing the 'glowing review' for the instagram post. This could be as simple as having students write down either an interesting fact or something they like about the student and handing it in anonymously. Comments from peers can…
